La Mama Emerge Presentations

Emerge is a process-based performance-making project exploring isolation, connection and identity. 18 artists have worked together for the past 10 weeks developing their shared practice as Melbourne's next generation of theatre-makers. This time has been filled with learning text and movement-based practice, and conversations about creativity. This season is a snapshot of the ideas and processes we have been exploring together.

As each piece deals with the pursuit of connection, the stage design physicalises the experience of attempting to establish and maintain close relationships. Lines form a network that divide and isolate, whilst simultaneously unifying figures on stage. The colour red is significant to the emerging artist cohort, marking day one of the process that brought us all together.
